Simple (but smart) media player.

I'm looking for one of these (or similar):

Basically an external drive housing with media playing ability and remote. Perhaps even add SD card reader / USB port (for flash), but not essential.

Can anyone recommend a good or cheap (or both) one?

What is your budget like? Mede8er seems highly recommended but it's a bit pricy (+- R2500)

I got this one, works like a bomb but does not play FLV files, plays everything else I've thrown at it.
It has a recorder so you can record from TV, DVD etc. I use the recorder to record the Camera footage that I have when I'm away, something like CCTV.
Also has wireless dongle and can accept another external USB Device.
I currently have mine with a 1Tb hard drive with no problems. I also connect my external 250gig drive to it. You can copy from Device to the External USB device and vise versa without connecting the unit to a PC. It has HDMi.
Go for it.

PS3 gaming is wayyy overpriced - not talking console - thats reasonable IMO - the games themselves... and all thumb operated - I'd find that horribly boring next to my Wii.

Ya but as a media player it is insane . Then you can also game, where as if you buy a 1.6 or 2k media player you do not have the option of gaming

I see your point... but it's R1k media player vs ?k PS3?
I guess the thought of the PS2 as a media player is too fresh in my mind still...

I must say given that I have a full dedicated HTPC at home, that both the PS3 and the Xbox's media player attempts are amatuerish and painful at best.
