I went on a few of those raids a long time ago. Got so out of hand that we had to evacuate, the mob was so violent that even the police escort got scared. They were lobbing stones from atop a hill like mortars at us

I don't understand what the point of disconnecting the transformer connections might be. The definition of madness. Under what circumstances would you *not* expect to have to repeat this exercise a week later?

Rather go in once and remove the transformer and all the feeds back to the substation, and remove that too if necessary.

Let that local minister of electricity run his own medium voltage infrastructure. Who knows maybe he'll even become a licensed distributor.

Ironically it's the uncontrolled very rapid rollout of electrification post 94 that is part of the problem here.

Nothing to do with solar. You would still be paying water and rates. Also if there are eskom connection fees those would be paid as well.
And most users are not on solar. That is the reality

It’s an unworkable solution. People might be paying their rates - but still stealing electricity.
