I'm setting up an instrument that uses a built-in black box type of modem to speak to the world. The most convenient option for me to receive data would be via periodic emails from the instrument. I've tried many of the usual suspects for a free account, but cannot get mails through. What really basic smtp and pop services exist? It may be able to do imap as well, but that's unclear between the documentation that says it can and the current software version which doesn't really help.
