I must have missed that. How on earth can they force businesses based outside of SA to charge VAT (quite simply, they can't), and how do they plan to collect it? In fact it is illegal for a company outside of SA to charge VAT, as there is no recovery method, so this makes absolutely no sense.

I think someone has got their wires crossed here...

If they do it anything like they do in the US then the prices of items should remain exactly the same and the VAT should be included.

Sorry I'm talking ***. The price on iTunes is the excl. Tax price. But what you actually pay if you look at your receipt includes the VAT depending on which state you are in.

For me $0.99 is actually $1.04.

He stated those companies must be registered as VAT vendors. With our small market it will simply be too much of a hassle for them. Expect companies not to sell to SA anymore.

LOL, the current and expected electricity rates made me replace my lightbulbs with led, insulate and turn down my geyser, upgrade my PC to a more energy efficient model and I now hover between R250 and R350 for electricity. Honestly if Eskom gets it's wish I will simply go hardcore and replace my ancient fridge with an A++ rated one and go with a solar geyser. Eskom can Kiss my arse.

Frankly I don't know how people haven't reduced their energy cost, it's not like its hard or even that expensive.
