proper breathing
sing from you belly and not from your throat - it helps if you lower your chin while singing
practice, practice, practice!
 
Sorry guys, I forgot about this thread.

Any practical advice regarding singing would help.

For example:
-How to breath properly.
-How to sit or stand properly when singing.
-How to expand your range.
-How to articulate properly.
-What not to do.
-etc etc.

Any tips or advice on what to do on a daily basis to improve your singing would be welcomed.
 
- Breathing and posture go hand in hand - sit or stand with your back straight, shoulders relaxed, eyes straight ahead. When you breathe in, dont raise your shoulders. You should only feel your tummy expanding (using your diaphragm) - raising your head slightly can help too

- Expand your range? Unless you have a voice coach, its very difficult to expand your range. All I can say is practice practice practice, just be careful not to strain your voice (as Roxi mentioned, sing from your belly not your throat). Also, brething correctly helps you reach those high and low notes easier

- Articulation - when you sing, the inside of your mouth needs to be open, almost as if you have a tennis ball or hot potato in your mouth. Your vowels need to be "rounded" (if that makes sense??)

You should be able to find simple brething exercises anywhere on the internet, you can even do them while at the office or driving, just a couple minutes a day should do the trick. hope this info helps a little, I'm by no means a professional, but have sung in front of audiences once or twice, been out of it for a while now though

I just enjoy singing while playing guitar, and like with all other things I do, would like to improve myself and my skills. Not posting a video though ;-)

He has written several musicals for the school, including You Can't Skate, Mate, based on the Avril Lavigne hit single "Sk8er Boi", and Tsunamarama, based on the events of the 2004 Tsunami disaster, set to the music of Bananarama.
 
Open your mouth and pronounce the words clearly. Sounds better than mumbling. And don't whisper. Although for me personally it takes more control to sing softly. Not sure how other people are.
Hum a lot. You can do that wherever you go.
You can practise breathing by lying with your back on the floor and then feel your stomach move instead of your shoulders.
