Morning all.

I was wondering since my ADSL line is capable of 6Mbps and I only have a 4Mbps uncapped data acount,If I had another separite 2Mbps account if it would impact the main 4Mbps account and would I be able to get the full 6Mbps speed on the line if it posible with telkom. This is by using the dialup connection in windows.

Thanks all.have a merry winter...

You would be able to use the full 6Mbps line speed that way, yes.

My 4mb account with mweb used to burst up 6 mb but I would just use 2 account s

Will you not be limited to the ADSL line you are renting?
If the OP has a 6Mbps ADSL line account it would make sense .

Absolutely, but you are then limited by the ADSL account in use.

6Mbps line + 4Mbps uncapped account will give 4Mbps.

6Mbps " + 4Mbps " " + 2Mbps uncapped account dialled from a PC will give full 6Mbps across both accounts (4 + 2 = 6).

I very much doubt that since the physical line will have a synchronisation speed of 6Mbps. A line can't synchronise at two frequencies simultaneously.

Would you not need to bond these two accounts to give you a true 6Mbs experience?

You can dial up with as many ADSL accounts on one line as you want. If this is the first time you've heard of this, would you like me to explain more?

Please do...

You can have your modem/router connected with an account, and then have several dial-up ADSL accounts/connections on your computers.

Computers (and wifi devices) are always connected to the modem/router's connection.

Dialling up to another account from a computer overrides the modem/router's ADSL connection. New ISP, new IP, etc.

The maximum throughput overall is dictated by your line speed.

So, in the OP's case, with a 6Mbit line, 6Mbps overall speed will be attainable by using a 4Mbps and a 2Mbps account. Both accounts will still be limited to their speeds, but let's say both are downloading at maximum speed, the overall speed will be 6Mbps.

I agree, only if the OP has a 6Mbps line and not one is syncing at that speed.

100%, I inferred the former. OP would obviously have to be paying for an up to 10Mbps line, and is syncing at 6Mbps probably due to distance from exchange.

Basically what I am saying is that since it is not bonded, in the event of streaming/single thread downloading, you would only get a maximum of 4Mbs although you would be able to stream or download simultaneously elsewhere to a max of 2Mbs.

Newsgroup or Download managers that allow multiple threads would be able to attain the 6Mbs throughput.

But of course.

Thanks guys. This is like renting out a small flat in the back yard.I supply the line.and have my own Isp.tenant just buy their own data for their own needs.as we aren't allowed to resell by law. unless we buy a business resell account. Also each computer can have his own ISP account.and if one of the kids deplete his its done for the month.
