Hi

Why is it that DSTV installer exploit us by charging much more than the price suggested by multichoice
Some times double the price?

Is there ANY installer in Joburg that charges the recommended price as set out by dstv???

Yes

Just to upgrade from single view to hd
I have the dish and stuff
So its for the upgrade

The LNB goes from R300 to R650.
There is an extra cable needed.
There is a splitter needed. R400?

Do have all that stuff?

1. Twin LNB
2. MultiSwitch 2/6 way
3. Cable (100m)
4. F-Connectors
5. Labour R 170.00
R 226.00
R 114.00
R 30.00
R 350.00

Why don't you buy the parts yourself & just get him to install
Assuming you are only going to use a HDPVR 2P with no Xtraview then:
Twin LNB R350
Multiswitch - not required
Cable at R3 a metre (100m? how big is your house?)
F connectors - R3 each

then they probably will charge me another R800 for labour
this is exploitation

I got a quote for an upgrade on Single View to SD PVR.
I have all the equipment (SD PVR, Twin LNB etc.).

The quote was for R600...

multi choice suggests 350

buy the parts and do it your self, plus since you upgrading from a single LNB to twin, it easy as pie (i have done it plenty of times)

all you need is a twin LNB, cables (unless you live in a castle 20m should be more then enough), and f conectors, if you got the old HD PVV or want extraview then u need a multi switch.

No alignment issues?

nope :D as long as the origanal lnb was done corectly, use a marker to mark how the previos one was placed, and put the twin exactly theer, and no problems.

I have tried that over the weekend and working 100%.
Was a bit cautious but it went well in the end.
