So while my sister was watching Harry Potter the TV screen went blank suddenly and smoke started to pour out of the rear left of the Screen. This continued for about 20 seconds until I arrived to respond to the screams. I pulled out the plug and the smoking ceased.

When I plug it back in the smoking has ceased but the TV will not switch on. I purchased the TV from Game at the end of February 2009.

Is there any steps I should take specifically to get a replacement under warranty or must I just take it in with the Invoice and that will be the end of it.

Thanks

I'm not sure if they'll pay you out on the latter option but the sets are supposed to have a five year warranty so you should be more than safe getting swapout/repair. Was the picture still okay when the smoke was coming out?

Hmmm, just bought a Sinotec set today from Game...But as said before it offers a 5 year warranty so Game should replace/repair without any problems

Careful,

I bought a sinotec from them in '08. They don't actually carry the 5 year guarantee themselves. You fill out a form which you have to fill out and post to sinotec within 2 weeks of your purchase in order for the guarantee to be active.

Wow just found the form, was with the manual etc that I didn't bother looking at, will be sending it off tomorrow. Thanks for the heads-up

Btw whats your experience with the set bought it '08?

Sinotech only carries you for a year and Game pays them for any repairs for the bal of the 4 years.Or is it the other way around.
