Sinotec tv not compatible with HDML amp?

he doesn't need to "get rid of one device"

what?

Lets look at the facts.
-His amp has 3xHDMI
-His TV has 3XHDMI

Plugging his 3 devices into his AMPs HDMI's, with 1 cable running from AMP to TV doesn't work.
Plugging his 3 deviced into his TV's HDMI's, works.

koos now only needs to connect the TV's sound OUT to his AMP's INPUT

Keep as little devices between your SOURCE (Dstv/mediaplayer/etc) and your TV - you don't want any scaling/conversions to happen to the image (unless it is a dedicated high quality upscaler between a normal DVD player and your TV or something like that)
This is exactly what is happening to koos - The AMP is fiddling with his Video Signal - Be it HDMI-Standards compatibility issues or whatever it may be, you don't want this.

His setup works perfectly if he just connects it right, no need to do anything else.

koos, your AMP probably comes with a multitude of audio inputs, and your TV has a multitude of Audio Outputs - USE THEM!

It kinda defeats the purpose of having a receiver/amp like that, but if you can make it work, go for it. You are going to be stuck with an extra remote, but hey, that's life.

The thing is that the amp has no scaler in it. It cannot even convert up or down between the analog & digital video inputs. From what I can see the HDMI video should be "pass thru", if there was a scaler involved at all it would make more sense, but there isn't, nothing in that onkyo should be modifying the video at all, except for the OSD overlay. Therefore the lack of certification theory.

HDMI amps (pass-through) can only display another HDMI source. Anything non HDMI, might interfere or not come through at all via the HDMI amp. Try doing only the HDMI sources, Mede8er, HD PVR. and check.NB - Only the HDMI devices. Then if it still persists, Angase - Do as Keeper suggests until you can afford a new TV..

quick question - is there perhaps a converter the OP could buy, that converts it back to HDMI 1.3 or whatever?

nope. no converters. copy protection MADNESS. HDMI 1.4 is here to make sure that only the newest stuff work with the newest mainstream stuff. let the headaches continue!!!

Hi

I have had the same problem with my sinotec 42" lcd with HDMI. having tried all possible options, i contacted Sinotec about the problem. Seems to come down to the tv not accepting the HDCP signal being sent from the HD devices, which was confirmed by their technicians. They have come up with a solution, but the tv needs to go in, to have its firmware updated. So if you close to Midrand, this may be an option.

Contact Steve at Sinotec (CN-Electronics) at 011 357 3777. They are very willing to assist where possible and may arrange pickup.

I had the handshake issue on my new Samsung/Marantz combo :/ HDCP issues with HDMI piss me off.

Btw, only way of getting the latest high res audio codecs is HDMI afaik?

Koos - doubt dotVIBE was dissing the system. Just a HTTiB has a few limitations - but still awesome. I'd take an Onkyo over most brands at the price

Oh - I wanted a wanted to say (not sure if it's been posted) that you should get the latest firmware for both TV and reciever

Steve phoned me one day after I posted this problem to Hellopeter. They need to collect the tv for a firmware update.

OK.
Confirmed. Sinotec and Onkyo not compatible.
Chinaman from Sinotec says there is no updated firmware available for my (18 month old) Tv. Onkyo says they are aware of the problem, their new amplifiers are compatible with ALL tv's except...Sinotec of course.
Bummer

Sinotec HDMIt Compatibility Problems with LG/Sony

Koos, I have the same problem as you!!! I have a Sony Blu-Ray and an LG HDMI 6.1 system. My Sinotec 42" LCD does show the picture when playing Blu-Ray, bit it also flashes on and off, seemingly trying to adjust the picture. I thought it may be incompatible with my LG surround system, so I used the HDMI cables solely between the BR Player and the TV, and still the same problem! Looks like we are going to have to get Sinotec to do something about this!

I just bought a new Onkyo amplifier with HDMI 1.4, connected it to my 42" Sinotec full HD lcd tv through the three HDMI connectors (HDPVR, Mede8er,and Sammy blu ray player)but the tv screen just flickers on and off with a blue screen in between, on all the inputs . I have tried different HDMI cables, and changed all the settings on both the TV and Amp to no avail.
The guys from the shop where I bought the Onkyo (they are very knowledgeable) also could not solve the problem , so they have tried another amplifier and at last another tv (Samsung) and now the system is working properly.
So the problem must be the Sinotec ? Do you guys ever used a HDMI amp with a Sinotec tv? Surely this must be a resolution problem? The resolution on the Sinotec is set to 1080p 50/60 Hz. but I have tried other settings too.
Please help
