Here's the lowdown - I suffer from bad sinus headaches at times so recently the chemist recommended these pink pills to me. I take a tablet a day - the composition is 10mg codiene, 500mg paracetamol, some pseudoephidrine and another maleate decongestant ingredient that I can't remember right now.

How much damage is this doing to my liver/other organs since I've been on them for 3 weeks so far? I know it's gonna be hard to stop cos they make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, like being slightly drunk.

The warm and fuzzy feeling will wear off as your body adapts and demands ever increasing dosages but because of the Paracetamol you can't really increase it that much without crossing the damage threshold. If you mix with alcohol you'll do serious damage to the Liver even faster and very quickly. Everyone's different. I've been on paracetamol for years and my liver function is fine. The key is to keep well hydrated and to stay within the dosage guidelines.

pseudoephidrine being a stimulant will pretty much keep your heart pumping nice and fast, codeine being an opiate you may find yourself getting withdrawal lol. Usually it says dont use it for more than 10 days?

Yeah you really need to see a Dr. You cant use these things indefinitely and expect everything to be fine. What is needed is a nasal corticosteroid.

Sinutab with Codeine? I use them, but not for 10 days in a row. If your sinuses are that bad, you have an infection. If like me, you get recurring infections then you need to start a sinus rinse routine. I rinse my sinuses up to two times a day, when really bad, three times, but at least once a day for sure.

I've been your route, living on nasal sprays & over the counter sinus pills. I have used just about everything. At the moment I am about 70% better since doing rinses. Still get infections though, at least 3 a year, but at least i can bend down without feeling like my head is going to explode and my eyeballs pop out.

I was same as you, then I started using sterimar every day... problem solved, no sinus infections since, no medication either... weird...

I'm sure that all of us use a different product but this is what it comes down to.

Nasal sprays dried my nose out so that was not the way to go. I'm using Salex at the moment and, although I'm not using it twice a day as prescribed, the once a day is already making a world of difference.

Sinus is a chronic condition so it needs to be maintained because it's something that you'll always have. You'll find that a stitch in time saves nine so rather do the regular maintenance than fighting infections.

How to tell when your sinuses are farked...

1) you can eat the hottest foods and feel almost no burn
2) you fart and don't smell a thing while people around you turn green and pass out

Really the paracetamol isn't that good for your liver but if you're not an alcoholic it should be able to handle it. Should. There's this big hoopla at the moment with codeine though. Personally I find myself unable to get addicted to it. The pseudoephidrine has more of an effect on how I feel.

Works wonders and doesn't do damage unless you take the entire package and even then i doubt any damage will occur. What i can tell you is you won't shyte for weeks.

it constipates you something crazy. If you can live with shytting little drops like once or twice a month by all means go ahead but i would recommend the 3 in one, purple box.

Its nice on codeine because your shyte is dry but i worry i don't have a bowel movement every week/day on that stuff sometimes it could be a month if i took one everyday and that cannot be good. It is nice to shyte once a month though but it certainly isn't good for you.

Body gets used to the codeine and you'll be shyting like a Boss...after about a month. It suppresses the cough reflex.

Well everyone is different but for me it can be a month or feels like one, i don't really monitor when i drop a few kids off and it's always a few. Not the entire school. Codeine is fine but not everyday besides the 3 in one is better anyhow and i have not seen the pink boxes on the shelf lately, i heard something about codeine products no longer being available over the counter.

Could be wrong, i will check when i go shopping this weekend.

It's the pseudo ephedrine that has changed the place you get these pills from, not the codeine.

Ephedrine, pseudo-ephedrine and d-nor-pseudo ephedrine not in combination with other products have been rescheduled to Schedule 6. The majority of these are used in slimming preparations. The public can access these on prescription.

i also had a problem with a sinus headache a year or two ago and was taking that pink sinutab. i think i must have taken 2 boxes of them and they didn't help me one bit. so i went to the doctor and he gave me a course of antibiotics. it cleared up after that. perhaps you need some antibiotics to clear the sinus' up.
