Interesting news story from Ze Germans, and something that needs to be taken into account, it is worth bearing in mind that this does not necessary apply to SLR cameras

" Time went by and at the Photokina in 2004, 6 megapixels for digital cameras were introduced. Experts agree that a photo with 6 megapixels can hold up to an average picture on 35mm film under typical exposure conditions. Unfortunately the quality of pictures has consistently decreased since then.

The 8 megapixels devices released in 2005 showed extreme picture errors (so-called noise) under low light conditions and colour fringes in high contrast structures became visible. These problems have become even worse in today’s cameras with 10 and 12 megapixels. Manufacturers have attempted to repair these problems with software for noise suppression and picture editing "

typical case with most consumer camera's

once you hit 6 megapixels, the lenses become far more important.

Go for a Canon (not the A series though)
Nikon
or Panasonic (uses Leica lenses)

wich brand or camera model do u think has the best quality pictures and Function wize??

Obviously, most people have these Point and Shoot camera's, wich tend to be in the price range of R1000-R2300 +- (normally 3X/4x optical and maybe even 6x Optical)

Once you go to around 10X optical and 12x the Lenses are usually quite big, and then goes to the Bigger SLR type camera's...

---

Also note, alot of people tend to go for a sleeker or smarter looking small camera. VS the Big and Bulky one's.

---

Does bigger mean better?? or do some of these smaller camera's actually do a better job than the Big-Brother ?
