Laudable though this may be I think it is in the petty cash column as far as criminal deterrent goes. Popping a few Eskom, Transnet, SAA, VBS, Tembisa Hospital, Life Esidimeni etc thieves would be much more effective as regards slowing really serious and expensive crimes. Would thin out the ANC , MK and EFF upper echelons though.

Agree and disagree, the impact of the cadres thieving affects nearly every South African, however, our violent crime also impact every South African, i.e. I lost a good friend to criminals, also two people who school friends were murdered by criminals, one in front of his wife, the other both him and his wife were murdered.

Our violent crime is out of control. Hence I am the stage where we need an El Salvadore type intervention. The good thing, is that criminals have tattoos that clearly identifies them as criminals, which make such approach feasible.

Don't even try to downplay it, these are violent criminals who won't hesitate to blow your brains out, merely because you took too long to get out of the car when they are hijacking you.

Getting rid of this 6 possibly saved a life of a hard-working innocent person, or several. I hope police retaliate with as much brutality as these savages.
 
So fatally wounded means they all died a while after the shooting stopped.

Not down playing it at all but the state of SA and its policing is, as I see it, a direct result of the ANC "leadership" spending more time stealing, appointing their pals to jobs and tenderpreneuring rather than actually doing their jobs This ripples through to the economy and SAPS etc resulting in high unemployment and crime then dysfunctional policing and justice system. The feeesh she rots from the head. Pop a few, Chinese style, rather than whistle blowers, and my guess is that we will see a radical decrease in "corruption".

I was in a high school with maybe 320 pupils. six I knew have been murdered, one beaten to death with a hammer, an uncle murdered, family friends had the husband and two sons killed. Very, very nearly lost a close family member in a robbery. I am under no illusions about crime in SA so El Salvadore type intervention; bring it on but try not forget the big feeshes.

That's perfectly fine. It saves on the resources and effort of tracking them down. A few more years of this and we would have hopefully gotten rid of most of them. Maybe by then those who are thinking of a career in crime would have grown a few brain cells to realise that it only ends one way...

Corruption and these garden variety vicious sort aren't the same though there's some intersection with tenderpreuners now using common criminals to kill off whistleblower. Case in point,
The murder of Vereeniging engineering company employee Armand Swart came just two weeks after the firm blew the whistle on mammoth Transnet tender price inflation that saw the cost of a single contract gouged by more than 4 500%.

Swart, a father of two, was shot 23 times in a deadly case of mistaken identity in April, with the hit intended for a colleague at the company.

News24 can reveal that two weeks before Swart's murder, the Vaal-based engineering company discovered an innocuous railway component - a simple spring no larger than a finger - they produced and sold for R3.20 had then been sold on to Transnet with a price tag of R152.

With the state-owned freight and logistics company buying a consignment of 8 000 of these springs, what should have been a R25 000 purchase morphed into one worth more than R1.2 million.

Violent criminals are however much closer to us common people than politicians. They are the ones who hijack us, murder and rape us. The cars they use to commit these crimes are taken from ordinary folk going about their debt ridden day. And they do tend to kill more often than other criminals if there's any hint of you fighting back. I am also sure the police and Hawks are capable of chewing and walking at the same time so they can kill these vermin and investigate the feesh you want feeshed.
