Sixth Annual E-Readiness/Web Savvy Survey

No surprises there, steady decline in figures from 2004. Hey something to be proud of 14 other countries lost more points than we did...
Iran, Colombia, Indonesia, Brazil, Latvia, Vietnam, Peru, Ukraine, Philippines, India, Argentina, Chile, Czech Republic, Lithuania, South Africa
I wonder if this is the same list of countries used by Telkom assessment partner: Tarifica :D

I guess not because as far as I'm aware both Brazil and India kicked our butt in ADSL pricing + services.
Well I guess Tarifica must then compare Telkom Earth with Telkom Mars, Telkom Pluto, Telkom Saturn..., Telkom shi? story, etc...

I wonder if the assessors would have maintained that rating had they actually been exposed to any articles in the SA press + MyADSL + Helkom.

I don't think cost was taken into account.
That's probably why we are ranked above a country like India.
So in essence a good survey for Telkom to use alongside their buddy Tarifica. Hey look at this survey we're better than India...

Nope, the survey is called E-Readiness and not E-Capableness.

I guess but has that every stopped Telkom, e.g. has anyone ever been able to read a Tarifica survey (or better been able to afford to buy the survey to read)?
It's funny how all the surveys that don't favour Telkom are free, but the one that apparently does costs xxx thousands of $.

I also heard this story of having to purchase this Report. R30 000.00 to be more specific.

I quote myself, "Telkom refers to the Markinor Survey and the Tarifica Report constantly. Until both these Documents can be presented before ICASA they are meaningless".
I see Telkom gave ICASA the Markinor Survey, but the Tarifica Report remains a mystery.
In any event, a similar survey should be entertained by ICASA independent IMO and questions more specific to price, caps and port shaping etc, be asked.
As the Markinor Survey has been challenged, ICASA should either exclude it or entertain a new one as suggested.
