Skoda Elroq finally goes into production
Skoda's new Elroq electric SUV has hit the production lines at the company's main plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. Sharing the assembly line with its larger sibling, the Enyaq, and the combustion-powered Octavia, the Elroq marks Skoda's ambitious return into the affordable electric vehicle segment. With over 20,000 orders already placed, the Elroq is generating a lot of excitement among buyers looking for a practical and affordable electric SUV.
Elroq's strategic positioning between segments is a key factor in its appeal. Measuring 4.48 m in length, it slots neatly between the larger Enyaq and VW ID.4 (4.58 m) and the compact VW ID.3 and Cupra Born (4.28 m). This clever sizing, combined with its SUV design, provides ample space and versatility while maintaining a compact footprint.
The latest electric Skoda comes with a few powertrain options. The base Elroq 50 has a 52 kWh battery and a 125 kW motor, while the Elroq 60 gets a bigger 59 kWh battery and a 150 kW motor. The top-of-the-range Elroq 85 comes equipped with a 77 kWh battery and is available in two variants: a 210 kW rear-wheel-drive model and a 220 kW all-wheel-drive model.

Skoda is giving its compact electric SUV the vRS treatment, but we still don't know how much power it'll get
Skoda has teased a new ‘vRS’ version of its all-electric Elroq compact SUV, and yes, it will be available with bright green paint. But that’s not all.
Looks like the vRS will get different bumpers to the rest of the Elroq range, and there's plenty of the black exterior trim that's now typical of hot Skoda models, including a glossier grille.
Skoda has kept quiet about the powertrain for now, but it’s fair to assume it’ll get more power than the current range-topping Elroq’s 281bhp. Given that it's based on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX and the Cupra Born VZ, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the same 322bhp rear-mounted e-motor as found in those hot hatches. That'd mean it's not quite in the same league as the Volvo EX30 with its 422bhp twin-motor option.
Expect the Elroq vRS to get the adaptive dampers that are already available as a £650 option on the standard car. Aside from the new headrest badging, changes to the cabin should remain minimal. That means a 5in driver’s display and 13in infotainment screen, with a general mix of fabric, suede or leather surfaces for that ‘ooh, nice’ comment from passengers.

Skoda Elroq was officially unveiled only last year and now this affordable crossover is getting a new version. The company will expand the Elroq lineup with the introduction of a new flagship RS model. Skoda just released a teaser, offering us a sneak peek at the vehicle's sporty design, ahead of its official unveiling scheduled for early April.
The distinctive exterior of the Elroq RS features a high-gloss black front panel, known as the Tech-Deck Face, giving the new version a modern and aggressive look. The front bumper has been redesigned with a sportier central air intake. New front fender badges and aerodynamically optimized wheels with a vibrant Mamba Green accent further distinguish the RS model. The rear design seems largely unchanged, but a blacked-out bumper suggests potential updates to complete the sporty aesthetic.
The sporty theme continues inside the Elroq RS. A perforated, flat-bottom steering wheel with vRS badging immediately catches the eye, and the two-tone front seats have vRS embroidery on the headrests. The interior also includes a digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch freestanding infotainment system, providing a modern and user-friendly interface.

Hot Elroq gets a twin-motor, four-wheel drive powertrain and 340 miles of range
Skoda’s fastest accelerating production car to date is here: say hello to the Elroq vRS, whose 335bhp dual-motor powertrain launches it to 62mph in just 5.4s on the way to a vmax of erm... 111mph. Yeah, runs out of steam fairly quickly, but it certainly should be punchy off the line.
And that’s not all. Where the standard Elroq comes in rear-wheel drive form only, the vRS will get four-wheel drive thanks to the presence of those two electric motors. It’s also Skoda’s fastest charging car yet, capable of 185kW DC rapid charging, meaning a 10 to 80 per cent top up takes just 26 minutes if you can find a suitable charger.
Elsewhere, the vRS gains a sports chassis with suspension that's 15mm lower at the front and 10mm out back compared to the standard car. You can have adaptive dampers as an optional extra if you ask nicely, too. Skoda has also fiddled with the steering to give this Elroq a bit more spice in the corners.
It also looks a fair bit different to the standard car, and is the first sporty vRS model to deploy Skoda’s new 'Modern Solid' design language. Key features include a glossy 'Tech-Deck face', behind which sits an army of sensors and radars for things like Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist. That face also creates a funky light show when the car is unlocked, which should be entertaining for the first few days of ownership.
