Hi guys,

Just wanted to know if anyone is interested in the new skylake chips and what motherboard combination you are thinking of getting?

Well, it's a tock so I'm definitely interested.
Motherboard? I am a die hard Asus fan.

I've started buying components, but they're a bit thin on the ground. I'm going miniITX this time, so I'm still waiting for a board I like and 16GB DIMMs to appear at retail. Got my data drives, case, PSU, fans and cooler. Need to see what OS drive the board supports (mSATA or M.2).

Asus uses Partserve as their local repair agents, so I'll be avoiding them until they open a local repairs office. I'm thinking of Gigabyte for this build.

I will wait a bit, and then get an upgrade.
Gigabyte Motherboard and new chip...

I recently bought a mini-itx 1150 board for the purpose of building an HTPC.
I will wait for the update on the new Skylake processors before I make the move into Skylake for a dedicated gaming machine.
My mini-itx handles everything better than what my Asus Gryphon Mobo could. I should probably change my sig.

Do you guys think Haswell chips will come down in price or stay the same?

It'll either be M.2 or a U.2 connector, if you're getting a Z170-based board.

There's an ASRock here that has a mSATA port, and no M.2 port (allegedly). Not that I'm getting that board, but there's no point buying the drive before I know what board I'm getting.

Don't think I've ever seen a price drop. And we're at least a month away from the mainstream chips' release, so not soon, if at all.

Not interested in the Hero or the Ranger. Waiting to see what the Maximus VIII Formula looks like.

Got a 4790K on a Z97 board, so no not interested in the slightest especially since there isn't much of an improvement. I will wait for Z390

Nah, reckon I'm happy for the next 5-8 years... Only thing that will be upgrading is to the HOF 980Ti to go along with my colour scheme, damn graphics cards

I've got a Q9550 on a G41 board, and performance isn't even in the top three reasons I'm upgrading. I want reliable USB3, more RAM and a quieter box.

That's the mPCIe port for plugging in the WiFi card. It can be used as a mSATA port, but I don't think there's much reason to do so.

You found the specs! Thanks! That seems like a nice board. DVI and displayport, and 2 network ports. And I would use that slot for mSATA. I don't use WiFi for my desktops and I don't want a third discrete drive in my case. Wonder how ASRock rates for reliability.

End of August and still no MiniITX Skylake boards.:( I WANT MY NEW PC DAMMIT! Oh, and 16GB DIMMS too - they seem awful rare.
