I just got my first android device (S3) and installed skype. I called video called someone and they saw me but my screen also showed me. Messed around settings but could not find where to change this (although why that would be the default is beyond me). Am I experiencing a bug?

hate the new skype tablet UI, cause I am forced to use landscape mode!! WTF!
I want my skype in portrait mode, damn you microsoft - the least you can do is put an option to choose orientation.

You could see them, and in a corner yourself too?

That's so you can see what your webcam shows, to ensure the person you're calling can see you properly. It can be turned off...

Necroing this thread.

Skype for Android is now at Version 8. It's absolutely dreadful.

Introducing the next generation of Skype

Life is busy and filled with too many options. Staying connected, with all this noise, can sometimes be challenging. And in a world of choice, having a familiar place to share with the people who are closest to you, can go a long way. Today, we are introducing the next generation of Skype to make experiencing life together, every day, simpler.

Rebuilt from the ground up, the new Skype vastly improves the ways you can connect with your favorite people and, of course, chatting is front and center. We’ve made group chats more lively, expressive, and—most importantly—personalized, so you can chat the way you want. With the new Skype, you’ll have countless ways to share life’s moments together, every day. Wherever life takes you, Skype allows you to seamlessly create, play, share, and do more with the people you care about most.

Highlights = useless. Never going to use that.
Capture = useless on the main screen. Either I use the phone's camera app or I'll directly take a photo from within the chat (I can click a button).

Find = could have been integrated in the near empty part at the bottom.
Like = Why? It's instant messaging, meaning instant. No one is ever going to scroll back up and like it. Doesn't make sense for a one-on-one chat either.

New skype accept/end call positioning is lovely, they're on the exact same spot. If you either double tap or hold too long it will end the call. Expressive thing is also useless.

It's like Skype is trying to be Snapchat.

Anyone else use it? What's your opinion on the update?

EDIT: Backlash on Google Play as well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skype.raider&hl=en

In 9 days they got 22 000 reviews.
