Skype for Win Mobile?

I have an HTC touchpro, which unlike my previous jasjar does not come preloaded with skype.

I downloaded skype 2.2 for win mobile professional (pocket pc), but when I tried to install it, it gives error "this is not a valid pocket pc application".

What am I doing wrong?

You're trying to install the wrong version of Skype.
You should be installing Skype for Windows Mobile - not for PPC.
You should be able to do a compatability on the Skype site check before downloading the software.

This is freakin confusing

I thought I had a pocket pc (like the old jasjar), but it seems with the new win mobile 6 OS, its now called a Windows Mobile 6 Professional (Touchscreen Phone) .... http://pocketpccentral.net/help/wm6_naming_scheme.htm

However on the skype download page I only have the 2 options: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windowsmobile/

1) Skype 2.2 for Windows Mobile Professional (Pocket PC) or
2) Skype 2.2 for Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone)


...at the end the soln was simple...I should have downloaded and installed the *.cab file not the *.exe file (silly me)

Cool, you've also learnt how to identify software that will work on your device, and reject that which won't.
