Don't use Skype after hearing that it's pretty easy to get somebody's ip address by just having their skype id

...only have people you trust on Skype...
Visiting this site will also allow the MyBroadband people to check your IP.
Playing a game e.g. Battlefield on a server will also allow them to check your IP.

I think only the statuses are messed up at this stage, as I can chat normally and people reply.
