Talking about the payment difficulty on Skype.com, I actually had some experiences, one bizarre thing is, I can use same card (Nedbank Visa debit card) to pay on ViopBuster.com (success from first try), but can never go through Skype.com (n-times tried, cancelled/refused), both sites using bibit.com for CC transaction.

I've tried following CC on Skype:

Hongkong issued MasterCard, success with some cancelled
Nedbank Visa electron, success
2 Standard bank MasterCard(company card) refused/cancelled

BTW, you can buy SkypeOut time here
http://skype.hgcbroadband.com/en/index.htm
any card, easy, but just input your Skype account name and your email correctly

It seems that they are not accepting CC cards that are VISA at the moment.

Mastercards will work without any problems....
Skype or PayPal? I ask bcos I have a Mastercard & it didn't work last time I tried buying SkypeOut - "Cancelled" which according to the Skype Store FAQ could mean that the 3 digit verification number validation failed, yes I put in the correct details...

IC - when did you last try buying skype credits? Back in May I was using a SA Nedbank (albeit visa) card without problems. Fortunately I've still got overseas cards just in case they've gone back to not accepting SA cards. Actually I prefer using the overseas cards anyway - lower interest rates to contend with :)

I bought the Skypeout credits using my Pick n Pay mastercard. My FNB visa card was giving the cancelled error.

The intrest rates are great on local credit cards, they pay me every month :)

Duh i no,but are you not gonna get charged seeing that the card is an offshore one ?

Oh one more thing, whats the interest rate on credit card in SA at the moment, here in london its about 17.5%.

Pay it with an offshore account. The interest rate is actually quite low here at the moment at around 17% on my Nedbank card.

In the states they're in the single digits. Another nice one in US (and if memory serves in UK too) is you can open a new credit card and transfer your existing debt into it at 0% for the 1st year.

In your dreams - will not accept my standard bank Mastercard - I am so sick & tired of skype that i cannot wait for some competition of similar size to enter the market

Skype's going to be the top VoIP software for a long time. They've made to many massive deals and have already overtaken all the previous leaders in the market (excluding those that sell their software). They've basically become the 'google' company in the VoIP market.

If you're desperate to use them, try opening a moneybookers or paypal account and pay through those services
