Skype phone calls to PC

A plan is in the works to enable users of the popular Skype Internet phone software to receive calls from conventional phones on their personal computers.

Unfortunately only in Japan at this stage, but still a very interesting development.

SkypeIn already does this, no? Or am I missing what they are trying to do?

SkypeIn is still in BETA testing. And it is what G2V is talking about.

I've been using skypeIn since mid-March and it works great on PC or Mac - havent tried Linux yet. I wonder why its still in its beta-stage? Never-the-less it is currently available to all skype users so I'm not sure what the point of the article is?
