Probably not in the right section, but could not find anywhere else to post it.
Skype is really handy as a chat/IM tool, because almost all my friends use it. The only problem with Skype is that most of the time, when I send a message, that little spinning circle that says not delivered yet pops up just to piss me off, and the message goes through much later. Anyone else experiencing this?

Often... in fact, most of the time. BUT this may be due to my Mweb Uncapped account :P

Edit: will test at home on Cell C tonight

I think this is related to the ISP. Probably a port shaping or application shaping issue. I have seen similar symptoms if I shape the crap out of my network, and I will have similar problems as skype attempts to get around the shaping and establish a connection. Another symptom would be that skype will disconnect more often that it should... you will notice it goes grey and then back to whatever status you had selected.

I thought I may just elaborate on this thread (Hijack :D) - but has anybody else been experiencing degraded performance with Video calling on Skype lately? Lately for me it's practically useless 60% of the time. I doubt very much it is my connection either as everytime I have issues with video calling I cycle through three different ISP accounts (first my OpenWeb Gold VB, then Afrihost free 1gig and then Cybersmart bandwidth).

It seems to be like this mainly on weekends.

I often get the "undelivered message" when I chat. If its someone I know well like my collegue across the country, we just miss call each other and that forces a connection and sends through the messages.

I would also like to know what the problem really is and find a permanent solution.
