Slack share price falls

Slack Technologies Inc. shares plunged in extended trading after projecting slower sales growth for the second half of the year, a signal that strong competition may dent the software maker’s rapid rise.

Revenue will be $154 million to $156 million in the fiscal third quarter, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 46% to 48%, the San Francisco-based company said Wednesday in a statement. [Bloomberg]

I'm sure if they just sell the data they get to collect it'll fix their position.

The idea is too easy to copy. It's like minimalist forum software.

Pretty much this, and also how do you compete against a company like MS which will bundle Teams in with the O365 license, and it integrates with the Office stack relatively seamlessly.

It will be hugely difficult for a company who's singular product (whilst good) is competing against a company who services pretty much the entire Enterprise stack and the products are usually decent and in some cases best of breed.

I tried teams. It is so slow and clunky I found it unusable.

Yeah, but when you are selling an item to your Corporate Overlords, usability (even though I find Teams to be acceptable) is very low on the list when MS can say "Oh but you get Teams for free with your O365 license at this level"... Slack loses that fight instantly, regardless of how good it is.

The integration they provide is pretty powerful though.

What Slack should be doing is drop their prices.
