Ok.. so its been years since my last post.. and hoping some of you still remember myself and Claire ;)

I still try to read as often as I can.. but work has been a bit hectic.. NO EXCUSE I know.. but Blah..

anyway.. Kinda envious and proud that she beat me.. but claire.lee on this site made the front page of slashdot.org today for an interview. http://science.slashdot.org/story/14/12/02/0029239/the-life-of-an-atlas-physicist-at-cern based on an article about her work for SA and CERN http://www.htxt.co.za/2014/12/01/interview-meet-claire-lee-a-south-african-atlas-physicist-at-cern/

Biased envy I know.. but still pretty cool

PS hope you are all doing well and looking forward to a nice December Holiday..

A few weeks ago I chatted to a Mathematician who does blast simulations for our explosives division, and thought - 'No fair. She has the coolest programming job ever.'
And just when I get over my jealousy - a even better one.

Girls get all the cool stuff. Boo boo.:p

Nice one Kalvaer. You guys have fun up there. (And don't destroy the universe, ok?)

+1 well done and all the best for the future. News like this makes me smile :D.

Epicness dude..

Was actually wondering where you were a few days ago....

FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT.

Thanks for sharing.

This!

Back to South Africa – are you positive about the state of science/physics education here?
Yes and no. I think universities are doing a good job, mostly, we do have some top quality researchers here in South Africa and are able to place well on the international scale. On the other hand, the quality of the schooling is going down terribly, and some of the students gaining university entrance nowadays and qualifying for these courses know extremely little. This only puts pressure on the universities, increasing lecturers’ loads, which is unfortunate.
