Hi all, this is my first ever post. Does anyone out there use a slingbox?Does it work well in SA. I've been on their site and South Africa is not listed.any feedback would be greatly apreciated.

but why? things like hulu and netflix are only available in US. So you might as well get a cheap VPS account and use a small (mini itx) HTPC.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work. The only problem I could see is that DSTV remote wont be included in their database. Otherwise as long as you can afford the bandwidth it will work fine.

I would like to know how the quality is if anybody knows. Is it you tube quality or better.i will be using it on a 4mbps adsl line.

I tested one a couple of years ago. We never got it to stream properly over the internet, due to the slow line speeds we had (at the time). The video is scaled by the box, according to the line speed you have. We got it to stream beautifully over our local network. Quality was perfect. Will you have 4 Mbps on the transmit and receive?
