Am on ADSL192 in Somerset West and my connection is terrible, getting 40kbps max, haven't hit my cap just yet. My email is also down, anyone else?

I'm getting very slow international speeds and alot of gateway timeouts...

I have a sneaky suspicion that it could be your hardware ;)

Im is ok here in KZN, with the sites that I have tried.

Don't mock that hardware lol, we got Windows 95 running on it once, took us over 6 hours to install!

I'm thinking about downgrading (again) - What speeds would you expect on a 192?

Something you could try is to reset the modem. I was experiencing a constant 40KB/s, which seemed to happen after a power failure. It could be an exchange problem, so reset the modem and see if there's a difference. Worked fine here now the speed is back up to a constant 55KB/s.

You're getting those speeds on a 192 - dang. Defiantly going to downgrade!

highest i get on a 192k line is occasionally about 33kB/s

Even that sounds respectable and possibly worth the downgrade. Funny how some people report speeds in the 55KB/s region for 192. Lucky I guess.

When I downgraded, they did it proper and my speeds fell to like 20kb/s max. It's a bloody misery, but I intend to stick with it just to spite the Telmonster. With the cost of bandwidth being what it is, why should I pay for a 512 or 1024 package that literally gets me nowhere fast?

I got about 20kbps on a 192 line and 40kbps on my current 384.
Looks like I'm getting Effed in the A, compared to some.

No, 384 until I get wireless again.

Ok - my bad - assumed like whoiswarren you were on 192. At least it puts that connection into perspective - comparable to 512 by the looks of it.
