Oh
I really need some urgent advice. My art project's work has almost come to an entire stand-still because of some serious problems I am experiencing on my computer.
My wireless service provider is Aerosat, Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. ( my package discription...SatDSL presents Aerosat's response to the introduction of ADSL by Telkom Internet. SatDSL offers a 512Kbit CIR Backhaul speed on the Aerosat network, which provides a 512Kbit shared internet connection managed by advanced QOS rules and policies. All downloads are shared amongst the contention, however web browsing and email are shared separately thereby providing a much faster and streamlined browsing and email experience. Unlike most of the other South African copper based ADSL offerings, there is NO data limit on our connectivity, allowing you to download FAR more than 3Gigabytes of Data per month without fear of reduced service speeds.
I have huge problems and I am not really sure how to solve these as I am not that informed about wireless connections, but I am learning slowly but surely!
When I do a scanning of the Wireless Solution Provider, I get the following reading:
AP information:
Connected to SSID: K2
Using channel: 11
MAC address of Access Point: 000B6B331CED
Current transmission rate (Mbits/s): 5.5
Current communications quality (%): 30
Bridge information:
MAC address of the Bridge: 00026F38DB7C
Current IP address: 192.168.1.1
Bridge firmware: 1.8.0(A)
WLAN Primary firmware: 1.1.1
WLAN Secondary firmware: 1.8.0
Results of the most recent scan
SSID MAC address Channel Signal
strength (%) Mode
K2 000B6B331CED 11 19 AP
Some problems I am experiencing:
emails:
Most often I struggle sending emails even with just one image or 1 document attached. Sometimes an email with no attachments would be able to go through. Although I may get a string of error messages on my side that the emails cannot go through - the receivers on the other side complain that they are flooded with a continous flow of emails from me (same emails).
emails go through to receivers not indicated on my side
Internet:
I have resorted to opening websites from where my clients could download documents, etc. This too is a problem as the connection during the process of website building keeps on cutting out and I am not able to get through to some URL's or website building tools.
Connection keeps on cutting out:
My connection continously keeps on cutting out several times per day.
I have contacted my Internet Service Provider but they seem to be very understaffed and the technician did not come out as they had arranged.
I am not sure where the problem could be. Is it perhaps on my side?
Previously Telkom was my ISP (56kb/s dial up connection) and I never experienced problems like this over a number of years. I resorted to wireless as my project could not afford Telkom's extremly high rates any longer. The wireless connection is broadband and 64kb/s.
I tried swtching of my firewalls, anti virus programmes, but the problem just continous. I do regular daily virus scannings through Adaware and Spybot. I have installed Firefox, Opera - - but the problems remain the same!
