Hi,

I'm trying to download a package from ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org - and it goes at less than 1kB/s

And no, I'n not capped yet!

Anybody else suffering from slow downloads?

Since yesterday (Sunday 1st) the speed (?) has been abysmal. I actually cheered when it got to 1kb/s. I have no idea what is going on but at 3am it was no different. Is it possible that seeing it is the 1st of the month, all the capped users are now uncapped and have gone into a download frenzy or maybe the ADSL hamster has run out of food?

This is the first time I have been able to get onto this site as most web pages time out on me.

Something is definitely wrong and I am livid![:(!]

I think you may be right. This virus has struck SA pretty hard. It is keeping servers busy all the time. I would actually bet a beer on it.

Cheers

Anybody still suffering today? I can hardly access my site in the US?[:(]

yeah speeds are teriible...though nothings wrong with local AFAIK so i dont know why myadsl would time-out for some people.

Yes I agree there has been a marked drop in perfomance since the weekend. It could be due in part to the MyDoom virus coupled with the start of a new month for the people who were capped at the end of last month.

The odd thing is that the ping times are eratic, there is no pattern to the latency on the link. I use VPN and the ping times range from 1500ms down to 300ms in a couple of pings, I would have expected the performance to have followed a slower cycle.

I'm in the UK right now and the whole internet seems to have slowed markedly today -- btw our av has been picking up about 500 mydoom emails a day here
