I am on MWEB's 4096kbps Uncapped ADSL package.
In April (before the Seacom cable maintenance was taking place) I had terrific speeds and never had any problems. Now, in a completely new month, I am experiencing horrible download speeds. HTTP browsing is mostly fine but sites that used to stream videos smoothly before are choppy. I haven't downloaded much at all in the last 2 days and this time last month I was experiencing perfect speeds.
Torrents are my major gripe:
I used to get speeds of at least 120 kB/s to 160 kB/s. Now I tried downloading a really well seeded file and the download never goes over 60 kB/s but what's worse is: it's averaging 10 kB/s now.
Now that the Seacom cable has been sorted, what is going on? Why am I experiencing choppy video playback (when it was usually smooth) and why are torrents so extremely slow right now?
I am on a shaped account and I realise that heavy shaping occurs during the day on Mon - Fri. However, it still doesn't explain the fact that my downloads and browsing was fantastic before and now I feel like I'm on dial-up.
I just feel like tearing my hair out. Is anybody else on MWEB's 4096kbps package experiencing similar problems?
