So I have been having this problem in last 3 days and it is the 1st time ever that I have experienced this. My internet is really slow when trying to load a site, it says "Resolving Host" and stays like that for 20 seconds then page times out then 5 seconds later the page loads perfectly.

If steam has an update it gets to the 400kb mark but then goes 370, 330, etc all the way to 30kb. Then it works its way up again. The easiest way to see if there is a problem is when I open Team Speak, it takes about 3 minutes to just connect to a server when it normally takes 5 seconds max.

I have tried Malwarebytes, Windows Dedender, Spybot S&D, ADWcleaner, these programs picked up 1 or 2 threats but took care of them yet the problem remains. Have tried different explorers and another PC, works perfect on another PC so definitely not an ISP issue.

Any clue how to get rid of this problem?

Does a router restart make any difference?

No difference at all, it's only on my main PC, tried same things on my laptop and no problem :/

Have you had a look at what is running on the PC using tools such as task manager? What made you think it was/is a virus causing the problem?

I would start with a simple process after checking what is running on the PC.

Command Prompt:

Ipconfig -- to see what network interfaces are active
Ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /renew

The day my internet started this trouble I noticed Windows Defender said there was a virus I must clean so did that. I presumed it was a virus because of that and googling a few things and trying things on a laptop so looked like was something with mine.

Don't see anything out of the ordinary in task manager except 10 running processes of Google Chrome.

What do you mean "DNS" I understand the word but what about it. Is there a problem with my PC connecting to it?

I'll do that in CMD now and let you know.- Anything specific I must look for here? Or is it just to reset it all.

Sounds like you downloaded some malware and gsve it admin privileges so now hogging resources

That is a possibility. I would wonder about all those Chrome sessions and try and shut them down. Surely a full system scan will show up something if it was malware?

Not necessarily as if you've given permission when installing. Look at installed programs loaded right before problems started. Those Ukrainian porn sites catch many people out.

LOL ^^

Nothing changed or installed on PC, only thing that was downloading at the time was CONAN EXILES, but from Steam directly.

Track down the defender message, maybe a corrupt Windows update?

Just ran a scan on my computer and checked all processes and found nothing. so we would need to get Op to tell what version, build and update he is on.

Giving that Hitman Pro a go, heard that it works well, so far I just 155 items, not threats but tracking cookies, whatever that is?

Did you establish where all those Chrome sessions were coming from?

What version of WIN 10 is loaded on the PC?

Well I managed to fix the problem, can't believe how simple it was. I thought of changing the DNS settings manually to the 8.8.8.8 cause I know it's on auto. When I went to check it had other numbers in there, strange random numbers and quite long. Just chose to auto and problem was sorted.

Well I could have saved you two days if you paid attention to my post
