Hi guys,

I'm experiencing very very slow speeds on my line. I have tired changing my ISP account from afrihost to FNB, but no joy.

Does any know why this is happening?

Local Speeds: 0.12mbps on Afrihost

International: 0.09mbps on Afrihost

Local using FNB: 0.14mbps

I've also been experiencing extremely poor performance for at least the past week or so. I'm on MWEB 4Mbit uncapped ADSL line in Somerset West near Cape Town.

I've experienced similarly poor performance at the office during the same time, where we are on a completely different connection type and ISP.

Run some traceroutes, might be exchange congestion.

On Telkom and International is screwed - cannot even get my broad band speedtest to ping on International. Pinging Google have ping of +/- 350 and 7 out of 10 pings timed out.

I have the same problem. Line syncs fine, stats are awesome, no speed at all.

Telkom fail to acknowledge a fault, but it is overloaded exchanges.

Have fun fighting, I'm almost ready to give up.

Same problem here! Using SAIX, anything international is screwed.

Update: I can access www.saix.net but not www.telkom.co.za problem doesn't seem to be restricted to international

Use "dsl-cache.saix.net " as the proxy with port 8080. Seems to have sorted out my problem.

Right, this is becoming critical. It seems to be affecting multiple areas in Cape Town and Telkom show no signs at all of being interested in fixing it.

I checked out the complaint procedure for ICASA and basically what everyone needs to do is the following:
1: Log a fault with telkom, not the fault number
2: When the fault comes back as "fixed" or they close it because nothing is happening on it repeat 1 another 2-3 times
3: Escalate the faults
4: Once you've hounded telkom as much as possible and gone as far up the food chain as they will let you get, file a complaint with ICASA detailing everything from 1-3

If enough people do this then Telkom and, eventually, ICASA will notice that they are getting spammed with complains from people in the greater CT area and will have to do something.

Well, I hope so anyway :-/

hey, ive been having some serious issues with my line for the past while, not just today. was going to create a new thread but than saw this thread here :D dont know if im hijacking?

this was today: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2222223229.png

im with Telkom on the uncapped 384 line but recently my speed has just gone through the floor. both these tests were done on my PC with Lan cables. is there any advice on what to do? i have phoned telkom a few times but uhm ya.... i cant hold on a line longer than 20 minutes before even getting through to an operator.

Odd there have been quite a few posts about these problems, including my own. Suddenly people have problems all over the country.
