Slow Login Time

Hi, am having really slow login times, about 4 minutes each time. Once the desktop has loaded everything is snappy.

Shut down times are fine, under a minute. Any suggestions?
System is running a HDD, am busy running chkdsk now.
Performance monitor says Avast, disk defrag, vlc are taking 40 seconds each to boot, which seems strange. I am thinking a service they are needing doesn't load or something along those lines.

more of a tweak www.blackviper.com to refine what needs to load automatically and what doesnt.

Click Start > Run > msconfig
Click on the startup tab, untick everything, then reboot, see if that helps.
You can the re-enable things until you find the culprit.
