Hi

I currently use 7 pc's and 2 printers connected via a Zyxel ES1110-16 network switch (10/100mbs).

Problem is, when I print high colour graphic prints or big files (<2mb), it takes forever for the printer to actually start printing the files.

I need assistance in trying to solve which looks like a network issue.

Should I consider upgrading the switch to something faster.

Suggestions on the best router/switches to look at will be appreciated or could there be something else that might be causing the problem.

Any assistance will be appreciated!!

what happens if you connect directly to the printer for testing.

what printer is it, how much memory does it have.

also, does the printer connect at 100mbs, seen sometimes they connect at 10 for some reason, unless forced 100.

Will try to connect directly to the printer but its a schlep to unplug the PC's for direct connection.

The 2 printers are Canon ir2880 and ir5055 floor standing printers; not sure how much memory it has

How do I check at what speed the PC's are connecting to the printers?

orange or yellow light is 10mbps, green light is 100mbps on switch side. (usually) also look in its network configuration. you can print a network config page.

you will need to move some stuff around for testing.

also remember, there is a warmup time and all that for these devices when printing different documents.

struggling to think at the moment, the flu is a biets
