Anyone else have these slow new menus?? Really irritating!!!!!
Are you referring to those new Spur menus? They are terrible hey
Lol, sorry. Talking about the DSTV menu. It is really slow after the update, but seems like those annoying lines I had above the picture is now gone as well!!!
Yes its the aspect ratio that has changed.
Well, if they are going to be gone permanently then I can live with a bit of slowness![]()
Yip, they should be gone permanently.
Slow Channel Grid on New 11xx Series Software
Just thought I should respond to concerns raised by forumites regarding the sudden slow response of the channel grid.
This issue was highlighted during the qualification of the software and was flagged as an issue that subscribers won't be impressed with. An initial investigation on this issue indicated that the sudden slow response in the channel grid is introduced by the implementation of the Favourites functionality on this 11xx series software architecture. The interaction between the different software components that were modified to implement this functionality, and the processing that is done at an application level to support Favourites, are all contributors to this slow grid response.
The 11xx series decoder software is based on the same old architecture as the old 6xx and 7xx decoders. We are confident that we will be able to improve on this soon but this will require that the entire software architecture be re-visited, to identify those components in the software stack that can be tweaked to help improve this. We are planning to get going with this exercise as early as Q1 2012.
We couldn't delay this software deployment because of this issue. There are a whole lot of other important improvements in this software (e.g. 8 day Guide and 8 day Synopsis, XtraView improvements, ARC, etc) that we had to release to our subscribers.
I request that you please bear with us while we work on this.
Thanks
Thanks for update Greggle... At least I know they are pretending to work on it

If you use the remote that came with your decoder, you will have no problem at all. However, if you use a remote from an older model decoder (not the DSD 1131 or DSD 1110), you either need to dig out the remote that came with your decoder or you need to purchase a new remote.
New remotes can be bought from Kalahari online.
The software download that happened last week to DSD1110 and DSD 1131 decoders included critical maintenance and introduced new functionality such as favourites and an 8-day TV guide.
We do try to make all decoders compatible with all remotes but unfortunately due to new communications protocols it was not possible to do that in this case. We do recommend that you always use the remote that came with your decoder.
Having said all of that, we would like to apologise to all subscribers who were inconvenienced by these changes.
Reports are that there are a number of issues with remotes and remote blasters following the latest 1110 and 1131 software update. MC's Response to that is:
The latest software upgrade seems more buggy than ever. Keep getting errors, more so than before.
