Hi y'all... i'm experiencing slow pings with my iBurst PCMCIA connection. It was supposed to be better after they finished upgrades on the Bryanston towers etc... but it's not. And yes, my firmware is up to date... latest version.

This is the ping sample I get:

Any ideas? Is this normal? If so, it's pretty bad for a 1Mbps connection.

aha, if you read the "UUNET Megalag" thread, you'd notice that people are experiencing the same problemy you are.

However, be aware that a wireless connection is notoriously known for high pings. Unstable too. This is all to do with the type of technology they use, I suggest you read up on it. 3G (both vodacom and Sentech) has the same problem.

If you want great pings, go ADSL

Alright, that's fine with me... if pings are bad but the rest is good, it's fine... but I was told by them I'd be able to run a VPN over the connection. Now I'm running one for work email, and Outlook keeps thinking that it's lost it's connection... the only reasonable explanation I could think of was the MTU... I changed it, and the only real way to see a difference was to ping before & after. Nothing changed. But thanks, I'll read up a bit about it.

yea. like i said, there's a speed and ping problem
i suggest you call their help desk NOW (before they close, unless they already closed, dunno the hours)

Shoot!!! Can't get through... they probably already closed up for the night.

Shaun / Dylan / iburst...

If anyone from WBS is listening, please post the current Helpdesk hours in the Readme.1st thread.

Thanx.

Dylan mentioned they'll be 24/7 come launch

i was too lazy to go to the website...

I might even be tempted to "volunteer" weekends part time. I wonder how much they'll pay me?

experience? You mean support desk  been there done that

everyone in I.T, raise your hand if you've never done telephonic support before

see... no one raised their hand :D

Wonder how much they'd pay for the temp work... and if one would be able to cope doing a day job and some part time help desk... :( I need the extra $$$
