Hi guys,

Need your help here. Since I got my PC it just isn't running right. When starting up it takes 2-5 minutes before it will open an icon and once in a while it gives me a "blue" screen which I know is not good. It runs some games slowly even though I am above the specs? How can I fix this? I have tried system mechanic and nada.

I have swopped the ram around. I have changed IDE Cables.

Is my motherboard maybe not good? And If I have to get another M/B I guess I have to change the CPU as well.

Thanx for your input

The only ting that I can see that might be a problem here, is memory. It's always good to have a gig or more.

Although that shouldn't really be that much of a problem.

Is it a brand new machine?

If so, send it back, tell them it's no good. We got a new HP laptop at work this week that did exactly the same. It's annoying!

could be a large zip/movie file... had a similar problem on a pc that had a 2 GB zip file. windows tries to index the file and takes forever to complete.

open task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to the Processes tab and sort by CPU. If it is explorer using 99%, chances are pretty good that it is a zip/movie file.

Not new machine got it about 6 months ago, built it myself

did the processes thing and "system idle process" taking 99 CPU. now what do I do.

I have reformated and even directly after the re-format it still does it.

512mb RAM is nowhere near enough anymore, esp if you want to play BF2.
Ram is also dirt cheap ATM. Go get some

yeah. I had all sorts of random problems with my machine( random shutdowns, it not starting correctly, freezes etc) . I stuck in another 512MB RAM taking it to 1GB and it now runs as smoothly as the day i bought it( which was well over two years ago!)

My advice as well- go for more RAM!

i dont think having 512 meg ram will make your windows run slowly

check you cpu temp

go to run type in msconfig
click startup and untick everything in there reboot and see if your problem is still there

if it is its a hardware problem
take it back to your supplier and get them to run some tests
