Is this where I post the speed. I am getting 36k/sec. That is not too bad actually. I have had slower.
The ADSL has been slow since about Feb 2003. On International it is very slow because of the restrictions on the router at 196.43.9.50 which I believe is the main Telkom router out of the country. I was told at that time (about 2 months ago) that Telkom <b>"cannot afford"</b> to buy more bandwidth and there are now too many ADSL users and they all have to share the available bandwidth.[:(!]

When I update my anti-virus I now cancel the download which used to take no more than 15 sec. (now takes 40 min) and I use ftp which is much faster than http as Telkom has not throttled that down as low as http yet.

Since yesterday the adsl is so bad we cannot run our eCRM which sits in Canada. So we cannot even look up clients. We are about to try the backup 56k M-Web account from a notebook. It is normally faster on International anyway.

I called Telkom but put the phone down after 40 min of waiting. I wonder if they think people will support them in future if we ever move away from this monopoly.

This is very wiered i noticed that allot of peaple are complaing about they speed , i think it all got to do with the bad quality lines we have here and telkoms inability to handle such a technoligy
but my speed seems to be fine
Your line speed is approximately 441.8 Kbps or 54.1 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )
