Slow speeds with SAOL?

Ever since the cap reset at the end of the month, my connection (192k line + SAOL 10gig) has been really slow. Before, I often used to get up to 40kb/s during off-peak time, and regularly sat at around 10kb/s during peak. Now it *never* goes past 5kb/s. Has anybody else experienced the same problem?
 
Just a guess, but mayb ppl r now downloading like crazy since their caps have been reset? Still, 5kb doesnt seem right no matter what time of the month it is
 
Im ok here on saol 10 gig for speed although I got frkkin annoyed again last night with a reset connection while trying to game online.

192K line should only get 20k, I think it took telkom a couple of months to fix your line speed to the speed your paying for. This may however go back to 384K line speed aka 40kb/s at any time, happens here aswell.
 
Well, I don't know what the problem was, but it seems to be gone now. Thanks anyway guys.
 
I'm on the 384 line with a 10gb cap and yesterday friday the 2'nd from about 5-10 I was having very shoddy connection.

Now I used to be on wireless online and so didn't have this issue but is this like normal for you adsl peeps?

Also one more thing can any of you log into the saix bandwidth meter that antibody made. It seems it works for other VISP's but I can't get it 2 work for my saol acc


Any advice would be helpful

Also has anyone got any preferred dns's or anything like that that they use for their saol acc?

There is a tool from Saix that, as far as I am concerned, is one of the best, its the Saix Stats Analyzer, but apparently does not work with SAOL, works with all the other ISPs but not with SAOL .... you can monitor your usage and concurrent connections ... slow speeds can also mean that there are concurrent connections and sharing of your account.

I have experienced this before, not with SAOL but with another ISP.

I am not with SAOL and never was.

Why doesn't the SASA (Saix Stats Analyzer) tool work with SAOL?

"Unfortunately, for some reason SAIX blocks self authenticating ISP's such as OpenWeb to use their stats. However, we are currently building our own Stats section, and will have it ready shortly."
 
/me throws a hissy fit :/

Do all you saol guys when you log into the site also get an "Authentication failed" error the first time you log on? I log on everytime and get the message then i go and type in precisely 100% sure the same at the second attempt and then only do i log on.

Strange he?

We saol guys get it every time we log one, not just the first time
 
I am with SAOL and
neither am I getting that message. Maybe an old SAOL password is cached somewhere on your PC.

Considering i only have one saol account and thats the one i log on with i doubt it very much.
Plus at authentication if i use my username/pw then it should log that combo on an not a cached one.
