Anybody else in the Pretoria region experience slow speeds tonight? The wind is howling outside but I don't think wind can degrade a signal. Mine's at 40% right now, had it at 92% this morning.

Maybe the tower is over crowded... (AGAIN!)

slow my side (kyalami) and also windy? could it be?

but i know kyalami is over saturated or woteva too - but the fourways and woodmead towershave released some of that preassure but not enough.

you have to look at the problem in a kung-fu zen like matrix morpheus way.

perhaps it is not the tower or iburst that is slow but the whole internet itself.

but for now i would nail it on your tower being saturated.

Apparently the coverage in Kyalami is currently degraded. People are complaining 24/7 on this forum about it. Iburst should really do something to stop the tower from being over-used. Maybe they can upgrade the drivers or firmware for the modems?

Went on this morning & int was quite slow (google was struggling) but local seemed ok. I think this is not just an IBurst thing because surfing int at work (non-Iburst) has become terrible but local is generally ok.

Didn't someone mention that SAIX was having problems or something.

My connection was disconnected this morning. I didn't think too much of it before seeing this thread.

Is anybody experiencing a problem this morning with IBurst.

It was disconnected this morning, then I connect it, disconnected again and now it doesnt connect at all.

iBurst are experiencing Authenication issues.Speeds in the DBN started last nite. They should be up in the next 1/2 hours

Slow speeds Cape Town no more

Hi All

After all the moaning and groaning, it seems the issue has been resolved, I'm connecting to the Gardens Centre Tower with first-rate speeds again.

Only thing is no excuses to work now.

You got my sympathies

Well I was without usable connectivity for nearly a week, hope yours are shorter and your speeds improve shortly… It seems it never ends. I can understand that it’s kinda new technology but surely they should have learnt something from the Australian experiment. But then again, this is Africa so the ppl don’t have much of a choice - bit of a captive market. All I generally ask for is what has been advertised and therefore what I am paying for and since yesterday iBurst is delivering that, just hope it continues. I still want to try this with my clients and see if they would be as accepting as I am.

This isnt a problem with Iburst technology who.is.michael, this was the uplink providers breaking down. Well it was in Cape Town, latley the auth problems from the MyADSL front page where sort of Iburst related, but more WBS.

It was their equipment, and not Iburst wireless once again. Come to think of it, Iburst is actualyl very reliable if you took away all of the uplink problems that cause disconnections or degraded connectivity. Id have very little downtime if Ibursts providers were 100% consistent.

I understand...

Hi there EHV

Your point taken, however what about redundancies, surely you ensure uninterrupted access!

Should there be a failure on one network you ensure that a secondary usable network is available, this is common SOP in any Western country, since you will loose customers to your competitors should you not be able to provide the service which you are offering.

Once again I think most ISP’s in the country is abusing the fact that it is a captive market, lets face it they are all as bad as each other, you try delivering a poor service like this in Europe you’ll be out of business very quickly.

I understand too, but I'm not even shure if there is a backup network that can be used reliablely :p They already use Verizon and SAIX, and then IS when things go down, but it seems to be a terrible IS link, or maby IS simply cant suport the whole of Iburst for a city.

Unfortunatley, I dont think any company in SA really has a good permanent back-up network, so its not really an accepted norm, but I could be totally wrong, just doesnt seem like any does bother to do that.
