Slow speeds

I have been an afrihost customer for 2 years and everything was fine up until the last few months.

Recently I have experienced slow speeds & sporadic disconnects. It is so bad now that when I work from home the vpn kicks me off. Gaming is rarely even worthwhile. My son on YouTube causes xbox to lag, which on a 20mb line is ridiculous.

I have contacted afrihost clientzone and to this point all they have done are asked me run numerous tests. When I test my line it syncs at 10mb, when I do a speedtest I get sometimes 16mb and other times 3mb

My question to the forum is...has afrihost run its course? Is it time for a change?

Heya lazzyb. I'm really sorry to hear about your poor experience of late. I'm fairly confident that we'll be able to get your connection back to where it used to be. :) From what you have described here, it either sounds like you might be maxing out the bandwidth on your line through your home network, or sitting with a line fault. :(

Either way, I'd love to troubleshoot this with you a little more and perhaps convince you to give us a second change. :) Please drop me a PM with your account info.
 
I assume you are on their first tier 'uncapped', which is a SCAM and a CON. There is a soft cap, and during busy (normal) hours I do get throttled to the point of just connecting to my mobile router. It is absolutely ridiculous. They also didn't give me an honest answer the first 7 or so times I complained, then eventually they said: "You'll have to upgrade to the next tier to have uninterrupted internet". So yeah.

I'm not sure what you're referring to here, or what service you are referring to, but it doesn't sound right. :( Are you a Home Uncapped client?
