Slow unshaped, which providers, which areas?

Hi

This is my story. Couple months ago unshaped connection speed on Web Africa dropped to near-shaped standards. It has been improved albeit never returned to normal standards.

I have a mate in East London getting good connection speeds on Imaginet. WebAfrica claim that the problem is due to SAIX but Imaginet also use the SAIX lines so is the problem maybe location then rather than provider? As in, Cape Town (me) = bad SAIX, East London = good SAIX.

I'd just like to know because I'm fed up with paying the same unshaped costs and receiving only a fraction of the service and I'd like to switch to Imaginet but if the problem is due to area then this would just be a waste of time.

Appreciate any help/advice

Hi
Cape Town (me) = bad SAIX, East London = good SAIX.

SAIX unshaped network in Cape Town is oversold, East London isn't.

You're probably better off getting a shaped account and saving some money (and getting a VPN account for gaming, if that's what you use it for).

I'm on SAIX unshaped (Cape Town) and it's basically worthless during the day. I gave up on SAIX shaped a long time ago. :) I switch to Verizon unshaped during the day and then to SAIX unshaped at night. At night I fly, during the day I crawl.
