Hi All. I’m curious about something with regard to the PS4 speed test.
I have 50/50 fibre at home and if I run a MyBB speed test on laptops and phones on WiFi I’m getting about 40-45mbps however if I do a speed test on PS4 on WiFi it’s 30mbps down and 3.6mbps up. My PS4 is literally a room away from router, will changing to lan cable make a difference and why is the up speed so bad on PS4?

It's a notorious issue with Ps4, changing the DNS settings and switching to a wired connection does help, but don't expect anything drastic.

Is that on a 2.4G or 5G wifi network, try force it on the other and test.

Speed tests to gaming servers aren't a reliable indicator for upload speeds. They simply don't cater for it, since most of the high volume traffic (downloads etc.) go the other way. It's the same on Xbox Live and PSN...

It’s on 2.4ghz. Will running it on 5ghz make a difference? What about changing WiFi channel?

What do you mean by changing the DNS settings?

Same thing on my end. I'm on cable and i only get 160mb of the 200 of the download and maybe 15mb up. Wifi 2.4ghz was much worse

On the Ps4 network settings, set up a network manually, when asked for DNS settings enter 8.8.8.8 for primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 for secondary DNS. images (17).jpeg

What does this do exactly...? curious now myself lol

Im on LAN cable and mines decent never usually lag at all on LTE
It has something to do with using Google's public server or something like that. I think I saw it on gameranx or ign, gave it a try and actually did help my speeds a bit.
