Hi Everyone
I have a problem,my computer takes too long to load "starting windows" screen, then another too long displaying "welcome" after logging in. What could be the problem? And how can I fix it? I thought it was registry and other virus tendencies, got latest CCleaner deleted all junk and registry, duplicate files, obsolete softwares, etc but its still continuing,I have good or so I think security software kaspersky, also went to the internet to get competitors virus remover, non can detect a virus or sth, what could be the problem? I dread switching my computer off this days cause it takes forever to boot,

I switch it on takes 3-5 ,mins loading windows logo,
It then takes another 3-5 mins loading welcome dialogue,

How to fix this?

How much RAM are you running?
How old is the installation of Win 7 and was it always slow or did it become progressively slower over time?
What processor is running on the Samsung?
Any strange entries in the Windows logs or event viewer? Check out this article and see if you can find the culprit
Give Malwarebytes a try and do a full scan.

Also go to Run and enter "msconfig" - look at the Services and Startup tabs to see if there is anything unknown added - careful what you change here...

Last resort, do a fresh install.

Boot into Safe Mode.
Monitor the time for this boot process.

If it is much faster, the culprit is likely a rogue process or corrupt driver issue.
This boot process is normally faster, so you will be looking for significant gains.

Then look for rootkits, Malwarbytes and/or Microsoft Rootkit Revealer.

Get rid of any junk applications and toolbars - use Revo Uninstaller

Run a full check on your HDD, including checking for bad sectors.

Possibly somewhat off topic but does anyone use readyboost? Does it help?

Thank you very much everyone,I will try that. Its 2GB Ram Samsung RV510 320 HDD Celeron dual core 2.8 GHz

Einklek this computer started slowing down after i installed nokia music player ovi, while it install it installed microsoft stuffs too,i uninstalled the ovi player but I am afraid to unistall microsoft visual c++ program that came along, what if what if?

You do have a low spec laptop so it seems it has become slower overtime because of programs you installed that run in the background since you say you have plenty of space on your C drive.

The biggest resource hog is the antivirus. I run Microsoft Security Essentials only and I don't see the need to run a non MS security solution on your machine when you are the only person using it and you don't install programs from unknown sources.

Ccleaner has another nice feature you can try. It has a Startup tab that shows you all the programs starting up when windows does and run in the background. If i were you would I disable all the ones in Ccleaner I don't want running permanently. You can always enable it back if you change your mind.

Also run task manager in windows itself to see what programs are using up CPU and RAM.

Thank you @nfbs I will uninstall kaspersky internet security,I think it might be the culprit slowing the pc

I tried it once, didn't notice any significant difference. I am sure it probably made my my laptop faster by a really small difference.
