Hello,

I'm an amateurish photographer and I'm looking to buy a new SLR camera.
Requirements:
Budget: R8000
Must be a Canon as I already have 1 or 2 Canon lenses.

Regards,

Bump up your budget by R 1500, and buy the Canon 60D body only. It is an amateur camera with specs that are very close to a pro. It has recently come to the market, so it has the latest features and will last you many years.

I think ODP has a sale on at the moment that prices the 60D very competitively. :)

Thanks for the replies guys; will look into it.

The 60D can be had for under 9K from CameraQuip and a 18-55 can be bought 2nd for less than 1K so 10K seems to be about the cheapest way to go 60D.

For a starter I would reckong 550D is more than enough.

What about the new 600D? It's going to be cheaper than the 60D.
