We have been paying a company to do our books every year. This is costing about R5k a pop just for the submission of the financial year end returns. The other costs during the year are also excessive and it's probably costing us about R12k+ per year in total. For a small business that's ridiculous.
The problem is this. I have a BCom(Accounting) and do the books myself. I submit the figures and the accountants put them into a SARS compliant format for R5k. I can even do this part myself with cut and paste. It's getting out of hand. I know that the new company act changes some rules but who can I get to do this for me. It used to be a person registered with SAIPA or something like that. Is this still the case? We are a Close Corporation.
