I'm thinking of buying a gaming pc, I was going to get a laptop but since it's not really future proof, I would like a small pc. Not much bigger than a PS4. I have seen some such as the Alienware alpha , but all of the ones I've seen either aren't in South Africa, or cannot have their CPU and gpu upgraded. For now I'm thinking of just having a gtx 1060 inside because I only game at 1080p. Can someone tell me is their any options available in South Africa ?

I've seen it, problem is I have no previous experience in building a pc and also getting it to SA might cost quite a bit.

Get a quote from scott's shipping service.

Building a pc is really not hard, it fits together like lego basically.

There are two options that fit into your hand:

1. The new Intel NUC6i7KYK. First Shop has one at R9800-ish. I spoke to them yesterday. Distributors are cheaper. Best local price I got yesterday was R8100 eVAT.
2. Gigabyte BRiX gaming and Pro models. Check out the GB-BNi5HG6-1060. Support multiple 4K displays.

They don't seem to be user upgradeable, I need to be able to take out the gpu and cpu later on to keep up with graphics requirements. I'm just worried that the 1060 will last 4 years then I have to buy a whole new system.

Why do you want such a small PC?

Just for aesthetic purposes or?

I was thinking about going the laptop+ eGPU route, but with how overpriced gaming laptops are in SA , and how difficult it is to get a eGPU case here, it doesn't seem viable.

I'm constantly moving around , gaming at home, at my flat in Pretoria, and at friends houses. So it would be nice if it was small.

Maybe look at ITX.

Something like the Cooler Master Elite 130 case is only 20.7cm tall and is big enough to fit any normal sized GPU including the GTX 1080.

Then you can choose the parts from Wootware for example and have them build it for you for an extra fee.

Just look for the smallest mini-ITX case you can get in SA and you're sorted. I'm sure a MyBB member would help you putting the components together. Some examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrngJGoZb-M. I really like the Sentry (individual video) but it's expensive (and would probably be a schlep to get it here).

Yeah I'm still busy looking for the smallest one, but none of them are really small like the sentry, and I wouldn't know how to get the sentry here.

I am a huge fan of the Silverstone FTZ01 but they unfortunately don't sell in SA anymore.
Been trying to find the perfect HTPC case for quite a while as my Lian Li PC-C60 is to wide to fit both my receiver and case in one opening in the TV stand.

Not upgradeable. Four years is a looong time. Needs differ. Fortunately there's a choice.

As suggested, look at mini-ITX options.

Agreed, the Elite 130 like I suggested isn't exactly massive, with everything installed should weigh around 3.5KG and can be upgraded and changed how ever you like in the future.
