Hello all

I am a doctor with a very rudimentary understanding of SQL and database design in general. I am using a tablet PC and an electronic medical record package to capture all my patient data. I am using SQL server as my database. I am now keen on building onto this database.

I am having some difficulties.

The electonic medical record software records inked submissions as binary data in the SQL server database. I would like to create an infopath form that retrieves this image data as well as allows me to write to the database.

I understand that I need to expose the SQL server database as a web service. I have downloaded copies of altova XMLspy, VB 2008 and a Qdabra software in an attempt to try create the web service.

I have not been successful yet, simply because I don't think I understand how to create WSDL, XML and other files. I have tried to follow guides on the educational websites, and I just get a bit lost.

I am looking for someone to sit with me at my computer and teach me the basics of what I need to do. I suspect that once I am shown the basics I can carry on and do the rest myself.

I am willing to pay for these few hours - I am not sure what is reasonable for this job/teaching, but we can hopefully reach some common ground. I am using this forum because I do not think that I could afford some big commercial company and perhaps there is a student or someone similar who could help me at a price that I can afford.

If you have these skills and are willing to help me develop my small web service, I would be very grateful.

In summary, I need help creating a web service to submit to and retrieve binary data (as well as normal data) from a SQL server database using microsoft infopath.

Thanks very much - I am in JHB

The Companies that Provide PMS software don't charge that much & for the price it's worth it. They usually charge a rental fee of around R300 and this can include ICD-10, nappi code updates as well as medical aid claims processing. They also charge a small percentage of your total claims. There are quire a few like e-md, healthbridge etc

On-site assistance goes for around R500-600 per hour, depending on the location. Learning SQL is NOT that hard. Get hold of a programming book (Visual C# 2005) is pretty nice, as it does SQL. Otherwise get a pure SQL book. You can find this at any educational bookshop (van Schaiks, etc)

tell you what

i will teach you SQL and in return, you must sort out this boil on my backside.:D

but any way look at getting a commercial package, i might be worth IT.
