As a recreational runner I often wish that I had my cellphone with me, for 2 reasons only: for a possible emergency call or to take a photo along the way. My day to day device is simply too big, too expensive ... just too much.

So, which phone will meet the requirements of fitting un-noticeably into a runners pocket or waist pouch? Feature phones are generally camera-challenged, so then a smartphone is required. Android preferably, as I'm not part of the Apple universe. Cheap and cheerful is just fine.

Any advice will be gratefully received!

Perhaps look at one of the smaller Sony's, most are water resistant too. I have a Z3 compact but I don't that's available any more.

If you can still find it, go for an S4 Mini. One of the best phones I ever owned, and it is small and takes great pics. I think you can pick one up still with MTN for R109/month (not sure if you can buy it cash). Or maybe go for a Xiaomi Redmi, it is sub R2000.
