Hi everyone,
With load shedding and the new (I guess not so new )"matter" standard I put all my smart home stuff on hold....
But planning on getting back into it this year.
Thought I will start with smart curtain motor, What is recommended?
The curtains are ring design , and I would like home assistant to be supported also.
thanks.

I've been using the SwitchBot Curtains for a few years on 3 windows. They are a bit pricey since you have to buy one per curtain, and each window has 2 curtains on it. They are BlueTooth, but I have an ESP32 running Switchbot BLE to MQTT on it which integrates nicely into HA. These were the only real option when I got them 3 or so years ago, but there are not other brands that may be cheaper. As long as you can get them within BLE range of an ESP32, they work great.

I have to recharge the batteries in them once every 3-5 months. I usually recharge them when they get to 40% or so. I just use a power bank and it's really not a big issue.

I have the Aqara curtain driver, which operated flawlessly for about six months. However, it now only closes around halfway mark now, while opening functions properly. Additionally, it produces some noise, making it less suitable for bedroom use. It is compatible with Home Assistant. I believe the SwitchBot curtains are more effective, featuring a mode that operates slowly but silently.

on a side note:
I regret spending money on the Aqara rollershave driver. I encountered challenges due to mounting the device too high, rendering it unfit and ineffective. Additionally, the presence of a joiner in my beads caused the rollershave to jam.
