So I've really been out of the loop in home automation since I moved to the UK.
We're getting a room added on to the house and I'd like the lights to be smart (so I can control them from anywhere). I've asked the sparky to run a neutral to the switch box for max flexibility, and he has.
I'm also thinking about replacing some of the other light switches but they may not have neutrals in the switches, and a couple of them are dual control switches.
I seem to remember shelly being quite good in this arena. Is it worth looking at zigbee? I do have home assistant running as well. I assume I can get multi gang switches that can act as a master control to a slave switch elsewhere?

Any other options worth looking at?

Even without neutral to the light switch, you can wire a smart switch into the ceiling rose to make your lights behave smart. The wall switch will then be a toggle, it doesn't matter in which position it is. That's what I did with our lights. You might have to 3D print a larger ceiling rose to accommodate the smart switch. There's a 3D design that fits Irish homes that should work in UK as well.
I used the Sonoff Mini ZigBee switches, but I think there's a newer version that don't need a neutral wire.

I think I'm going to go Shelly. I like the openness of the platform and the functionality looks good too.

First step is a dimmer 2 to go into the new wall socket, along with a single way momentary switch (cos I can't find a decent 2-way momentary rocker switch).

Next will be a standard relay switch and a way to control it from a different location (replacing a 2 gang switch with a 3, and using the 3rd gang to control the relay which will be mounted behind a different switch - so basically giving me a dual control for a light that really needs it.)
