Tired of missed deliveries or stolen packages?
So was I… so I built my own smart parcel drop box powered by a Raspberry Pi 4
🔥This isn’t just a box — it’s a full smart system:
✅ Generates 6-digit access codes (valid for 6 hours)
✅ Sends the code via email automatically
✅ Controlled with a Node-RED dashboard
✅ Reports everything to a Telegram bot
✅ Tracks door status (open/closed)
✅ Detects invalid code attempts 🚨
✅ Monitors power + battery status
Let me know what you think...

Looks good, lots of work.
What's the use case for this?

My gate is about 200m from the house, I'm too lazy to walk there every time I get a delivery, So when the courier phones from the gate, I can open the dropbox and he/she can leave the parcel inside, also, when I leave a parcel for someone, I can send them the generated code, leave their parcel in the dropbox and they can pick it up whenever it suits them

Wouldn't it be far easier just to use a IOT WiFi lock that you can remotely unlock as needed to achieve the same thing?

This is a great idea. I have a need where I can let my maid and gardener in by remotely opening the gate using my phone but this would secure backdoor keys very conveniently.

Yea, it works well

Why would a smart lock not be a cheap and cheerful option to easily fulfil that need?
I can appreciate the op is an enthusiast so part of the fun is making/designing something from scratch fully customisable but for a normal user that's total overkill.

Commax has intercom systems where you can unlock a door and view camera footage via your smartphone.
